How to get from Lanzarote Airport to your hotel: taxi, bus or transfer
Taxi, bus, private transfer or hire car: the ways to get from Lanzarote Airport to your accommodation, what each one costs and when each one makes sense.
Lanzarote is a small island: from the airport, Arrecife is about 15 minutes away, Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise about 20, and Playa Blanca, the furthest of the big resorts, about 40. There are four ways to cover that first stretch. Which one suits you depends on how many of you travel, when you land and how much luggage you bring.

Taxi
The taxi rank is just outside arrivals at both terminals. Taxis charge by the metre with the official tariff: a supplement for trips from the airport, plus a price per kilometre that is higher at night, on Sundays and on holidays. Bus
The public buses (guaguas) are run by Intercity Bus Lanzarote and stop outside arrivals at both terminals. As Aena lists them:
- Line 22, Arrecife: Monday to Friday, about every 40 to 50 minutes, from 5:45 to 23:15 towards Arrecife. The trip takes about 10 minutes.
- Line 23, Arrecife and Playa Honda: at weekends, about every hour, from 7:17 to 22:17 towards Arrecife.
- Line 161, the south coast: Puerto del Carmen, Puerto Calero, Yaiza and Playa Blanca, every 30 to 60 minutes, from 7:30 to 21:30 towards Playa Blanca.
- Late buses to Playa Blanca: line 61 at 22:30 and line 162 at 23:16 and 0:16, from Terminal 1.
There is no direct bus from the airport to Costa Teguise, Famara or the north: you change in Arrecife. The bus is the cheapest option, but stops along the way make it slower, and with suitcases, children or a late flight it is less practical. Intercity Bus does not publish its single fares online, so ask on board or call them on +34 928 811 522, and check the timetable on their website before you travel: it changes.
Private transfer
With a private transfer, your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a sign with your name and takes you straight to your accommodation, with no other passengers and no stops. The price is per vehicle, not per person, and it is fixed when you book: it includes taxes, luggage and child seats. Your driver follows your flight, and waiting is free for up to an hour after landing. A minibus takes up to 16 people, so a whole group travels together.

Hire car
The main car hire companies have desks at the airport. If you plan to explore the island every day, a car is the most flexible option. Check before you book whether your accommodation has parking: in the centre of the busier resorts it can be hard to find.
Which one should you choose?
- You want to arrive without thinking about it: a private transfer. The price fixed beforehand, the same day and night, someone waiting for you even if the flight is late and one vehicle for the whole family or group.
- You travel light and on a tight budget, landing during the day: the bus, if your resort is on line 161.
- You want to tour the island: a hire car, picked up at the airport or a few days later.
