Lanzarote Airport (ACE): arrivals guide
Terminals, taxis, buses and where your transfer driver waits: what to expect when you land at César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport, also known as Arrecife Airport.
Lanzarote has one airport: César Manrique-Lanzarote, code ACE. Most travellers call it Lanzarote Airport and many call it Arrecife Airport, because it lies about 5 km south-west of Arrecife, the capital, next to Playa Honda. From here every resort on the island is between 15 and 50 minutes away by road.
Terminal 1 and Terminal 2
The airport has two terminals, side by side and connected on foot. Terminal 1 handles international flights and flights from mainland Spain, so if you fly from the UK, Ireland or the rest of Europe, this is where you land. Terminal 2 handles flights between the Canary Islands.
After you land
If you arrive from outside the Schengen area, as you do from the UK or Ireland, you go through passport control before reaching baggage reclaim. From there you walk out into the arrivals hall on the ground floor (floor 0). Taxis, buses and transfer drivers are all on that floor, a few steps from the exit.
Where your transfer driver waits
If you have booked a transfer with us, your driver waits in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. They follow your flight, so an early or late landing is no problem, and waiting is free for up to an hour after you land. Your confirmation email has the meeting instructions and our phone and WhatsApp number in case you need us.
The taxi rank
The taxi rank is just outside arrivals at both terminals. Taxis charge by the metre with the official tariff of the island, plus a supplement for trips from the airport. Aena, which runs the airport, advises taking a taxi only from the rank. If you would rather have the price fixed before you fly, see our fixed taxi prices from Lanzarote Airport.
Buses
The public buses of the island (guaguas, run by Intercity Bus Lanzarote) stop outside arrivals at both terminals. Line 22 goes to Arrecife on weekdays and line 23 at weekends, and line 161 runs along the south coast to Puerto del Carmen, Puerto Calero, Yaiza and Playa Blanca. Timetables, the resorts they reach and how they compare with a taxi or a transfer are in how to get from Lanzarote Airport to your hotel.
Hire cars
The main car hire companies have desks at the airport. A car is the easiest way to explore the island on your own; for the first trip to your hotel after a long flight, many travellers prefer to be driven and pick up a car later, if they need one.
Flying home
For your flight back, plan to leave your accommodation about three hours before the flight leaves. That is the pick-up time we suggest for our departure transfers: it leaves room for the drive, check-in and security, even from the furthest resorts.
Book your Lanzarote airport transfer at a fixed price per vehicle, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before the pick-up.
